About IEA H2
The International Energy Agency (IEA) Hydrogen Implementing Agreement (HIA) was established in 1977 to pursue collaborative hydrogen research and development and information exchange among its member countries. Through the creation and conduct of some thirty annexes or tasks, the HIA has facilitated and managed a comprehensive range of hydrogen R&D and analysis activities. The HIA is an IEA Implementing Agreement.

The HIA envisions a hydrogen future on a clean sustainable energy supply that plays a key role in all sectors of the global economy with a 30+ year operating history, 21 contracting parties (including the EU) and 3 sponsor members, and significant accomplishments to its credit, the HIA  is the premier global resource for technical expertise in hydrogen R&D.

Our vision for a hydrogen future is based on clean sustainable energy supply of global proportions that plays a key role in all sectors of the economy.

Accelerate hydrogen implementation and widespread utilization to optimize environmental protection, improve energy security and promote economic development internationally while establishing the HIA as a premier global resource for expertise in hydrogen.

Facilitate, coordinate, and maintain innovative RD&D activities through international cooperation and information exchange

IEA HIA 2009-2015 Strategic Plan has three (3) Themes, each of which has several Portfolios:
